Recipe for delicious Chinese rice

Chinese rice is one of the most popular and appetizing dishes in oriental cuisine.

It has its origins in the preparations of Chinese immigrants who came to San Francisco to work in the late 19th century. They invented this recipe to utilize leftover meat and vegetables, and to get the most out of them by mixing them with rice.

This Chinese dish has become part of the cuisine of many countries that have considered it their own, so some local ingredients have been incorporated into their preparation.

Chinese rice: a kitchen classic

Chinese rice, also known as fried rice, has become a homemade dish that is part of the daily cooking of many households. The main reason for this is that it is an easy recipe to prepare and it is very cheap since you can benefit from leftovers from previous days.

The ingredients used in this dish are varied. The base is rice and you can only supplement with vegetables or meat, chicken or shrimp. Eggs are usually also used.

Chinese rice can be served as a side dish or as a main course. Both options are good for satisfying more than two, so it is an ideal meal to share.

Rice

Base: rice, vegetables, eggs and meat

The first thing you need to prepare a delicious recipe with fried rice is boiled white rice. Ideally, it should be rice that has been cooked in the past. It is best if it is from the day before and it has been cool.

In addition to rice, you should add vegetables and meat as desired. The most common are to use onions, carrots, peas and bean sprouts. If you have leftovers from the day before in the fridge, such as squash or green beans, these can also be used to advantage.

When it comes to meat, chicken, beef or pork are usually good options. You can also add sausage. It is also very common to use shrimp to achieve a gourmet meal.

Chinese rice is almost always cooked, with many different techniques. It is best to cook scrambled eggs in a separate pan and mix it into the dish at the end.

Ginger and soy sauce

If possible, it is much better to use fresh ginger and brown it before adding the other ingredients so that they absorb the flavor. But you have to be very careful because ginger burns quickly.

The secrets behind the preparation of Chinese rice

To make this dish, it is very important to have all the ingredients ready, cooked and chopped. The frying must be done quickly and with maximum heat. The ideal method is to prepare the Chinese rice in a wok pan, but you can also do it in a deep saucepan.

It is important to use some form of fat when browning each of the ingredients. In restaurants, they often use lard to give more flavor. But if you want to make a healthier alternative, it is better to use olive oil or vegetable oil.

You should heat the wok or pan to a maximum, add fat or oil and brown each ingredient separately for a maximum of 3 to 4 minutes. You should not fry the vegetables too much so that they do not become too soft.
